Day Twenty

Motivational Speaker  (Read Proverbs 8:32-36)

"What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals." ~ Zig Ziglar

What motivates you? Reflect on your life momentarily and be true to yourself; what has motivated you at different times? Power, prestige, glory, sex, money, food, fitness, profession, children, garden, yard, cleanliness, social media, video games, shoes, shopping, sports, travel, etc.? What motivates you right this moment?

Possibly, you lack motivation, or so you think. You are always in motion, moving in one direction or another; to sit and do nothing is still motivation, and to think not is delusional. When you feel stuck and unmotivated, you allow yourself to be motivated by fear, self-pity, morbid reflection, anger, resentment, jealousy, envy, lust, sloth, pride, heartache, impairments, etc. Study the lives of Nick Vujicic, Hellen Keller, Stephen Hawking, Stevie Wonder, and so on. When life said, "You CAN'T," God said, "YOU CAN," each of them thrived despite their limitations and circumstances.

"We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. Who are you not to be great." ~ Marianne Williamson

How motivated are you by the most incredible motivational speaker of all time, God himself?

Today's Scripture is provided by the most excellent motivator of all time. God is not attempting to move you by threats, manipulation, or fear. He pleads with you to respond vigorously to his invitation to the best life possible on earth and the hereafter. God is warning you that if you are motivated by people, places, and things (selfish gain), you will achieve temporal pleasure and die in vain.

32 "And so, my children, listen to me,
for all who follow my ways are joyful.
33 Listen to my instruction and be wise.
    Don't ignore it.
34 Joyful are those who listen to me,
watching for me daily at my gates,
waiting for me outside my home!
35 For whoever finds me finds life
and receives favor from the Lord.
36 But those who miss me injure themselves.
All who hate me love death."

Wisdom put into action equals happiness, joyousness, and true freedom. Those who ignore the laws of nature and warning signs and attempt to defy the odds all die in the end and die tragically because they perish separated from the Creator of the universe, and they miss out on the most satisfactory years of their existence. Don't let that be you! Put your will in line with God's will and watch what happens. You will experience transcendence transformation, spiritual intoxication, and a life of love and service.

Are you ready? Get up and get moving! LET'S GO ALREADY! My mentor, Tom Ivester, often said, "When preparation meets opportunity, and God does the introduction, great things will happen." He encouraged me to be motivated by the greatest motivational speaker of all time. I accepted the invitation and have never looked back. Please join me on this journey; you'll be glad you did.
