Day Twenty-Nine

The Karma Equation (Read Proverbs 11:16-22)

"Karma is the universal law of cause and effect. You reap what you sow. You get what you earn. You are what you eat. If you give love, you get love. Revenge returns itself upon the avenger." ~ Mary Browne

Do you believe in Karma?

There is a universal language for defining Karma; here are just a few of the popular expressions: "You reap what you sow, "What comes around goes around," "They'll get what's coming to them," "What you send out always returns," etc.

Today's wisdom teaching illustrates this truth by contrasting a virtuous woman with a power-hungry man. The woman shares love, peace, and transcendence with everyone; on the other hand, the power-hungry man extracts everything he can from everyone in his path.

Which illustration best depicts your life?

Throughout human existence, Karma has woven an intricate thread, shaping our understanding of cause and effect and the cosmic balance that governs our actions and experiences. Karma, often translated as "action" or "deed," embodies the belief that every thought, word, and deed leaves an imprint on our soul and ultimately returns to us in equal measure. This fundamental principle of The Karma Equation has extreme implications for our daily lives and is a constant reminder of the interconnected nature of all beings.

How we treat others truly matters!

Like a boomerang cast into the sky, our actions have a mysterious ability to find their way back to us, echoing the sounds of our words and mimicking a similar expression of our deeds. I refer to this phenomenon as The Karma Equation. This concept underscores the notion that our actions tremendously impact our present and future experiences. Whether the outcome is positive or negative, Karma's unwavering hand ensures that our intentions and actions sow the seeds of our destiny.

16 A gracious woman gains respect,
but ruthless men gain only wealth.

17 Your kindness will reward you,
but your cruelty will destroy you.

18 Evil people get rich for the moment,
but the reward of the godly will last.

19 Godly people find life;
    evil people find death.

20 The Lord detests people with crooked hearts,
but he delights in those with integrity.

21 Evil people will undoubtedly be punished,
but the children of the godly will go free.

22 A beautiful woman who lacks discretion
is like a gold ring in a pig's snout.

23 The godly can look forward to a reward,
while the wicked can expect only judgment.

"How people treat you is their karma; how you react is yours." ~ Wayne Dyer

"Realize that everything connects to everything else." ~ Leonardo da Vinci

Today's Scripture reading reminds me of the story illustrated in the Book of Ruth, depicting the relationship between Ruth and Boaz: Ruth, a virtuous woman, and Boaz, a power-hungry man. I'll leave it to you to read their story.

God expects his family members to practice humility, self-sacrifice, other-centeredness, and loving and serving everyone, including their enemies. If we practice God's spiritual principles in all of our affairs, God's rewards will materialize if we sincerely put forth the effort (Our Karma Equation). What God sends out into the world always returns (God's Karma Equation). Don't take my word for it; ask Jesus.

May God bless your hearing, understanding, and application of today's wisdom.
