Day Eighty-Nine
The Wisdom of Small Things (Read Proverbs 30:24-28)
24 There are four things on earth that are small but unusually wise:
25 Ants—they aren’t strong,
but they store up food all summer.
26 Hyraxes[e]—they aren’t powerful,
but they make their homes among the rocks.
27 Locusts—they have no king,
but they march in formation.
28 Lizards—they are easy to catch,
but they are found even in kings’ palaces.
e. 30:26 Or Coneys, or Rock badgers.
Reflection:
In Proverbs 30:24-28, we find a profound message in the wisdom of tiny creatures. Ants, hyraxes, locusts, and lizards may seem insignificant, yet they display qualities that reflect God’s wisdom. Ants prepare and store food, teaching us diligence and preparation. Hyraxes seek refuge in rocks, reminding us to build our lives on a solid foundation. Locusts march together in unity, showing us the power of community, and lizards, though vulnerable, find themselves in the presence of kings, illustrating the importance of persistence and adaptability.
Jesus Himself valued the small and humble, often using parables about seeds, birds, and even children to teach spiritual truths. He calls us to embrace the wisdom of humility, diligence, and faithfulness, trusting that even the smallest of efforts—when rooted in Him—can make a significant impact.
Mother Teresa once said, “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.” In following Jesus, it’s often the small, faithful actions that bring about the most significant transformations in our lives and the lives of others.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for the wisdom You reveal through the small and humble things in life. Help me to live with diligence, faithfulness, and trust, knowing that even the most minor actions, when rooted in You, can bring about significant transformation. Be my foundation, my refuge, and my guide as I walk in unity with others. Show me how to embrace the lessons of these tiny creatures and live out Your truth in my daily life. In Your name, I pray. Amen.
This devotion reminds us that in Jesus, the tiny things matter, and with His guidance, we can live wisely and make a lasting impact.
May God bless your hearing, understanding, and application of Scripture. Amen.
