Rooted in Joy: The Gift of Christ’s Joy
In the third week of Advent, we celebrate joy in our series, The Arrival: Embracing the Hope of Christ’s Coming. Advent calls us to reflect on the joy of Christ’s first coming and prepare for His return. Joy isn’t fleeting; it is a deep delight rooted in God’s presence and promises.
In this message, Pastor Harold Long unpacks John 15:11, where Jesus promises, “You will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow!” Together, we explore three dimensions of this joy:
Joy in God’s Presence
Jesus invites us to abide in Him, experiencing joy through a close relationship. Psalm 16:11 says, “You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of Your presence.”
Joy in Salvation
True joy springs from the freedom Jesus provides. Isaiah 61:10 proclaims, “I am overwhelmed with joy in the Lord my God! For He has dressed me in the clothing of salvation.”
Joy in Sharing the Good News
Joy multiplies when we share it with others. 1 Peter 1:8 describes this as a “glorious, inexpressible joy,” inviting us to share Christ with those around us.
Advent reminds us that joy isn’t dependent on circumstances but on the unshakable reality of who Jesus is. This week, root yourself in Christ’s joy by abiding in Him, celebrating salvation, and sharing His love.
